Just a quick update

It's been a while since I've posted any updates.

Every thing is going AWESOME. Bentlee is still continuing to be clear of ear infections as well as runny noses.

We have been back to the doctor a couple of more times since my last post. We have't been in a week since he is doing so well. But we will continue to visit once a month.

I pray he stays on the healthy side. I have introduced more foods to him and found more things he likes. I have been adding organic chicken breast in with his dinner to get him some good protein. He is still on formula and will continue for the next few months.

I have not come across with any new links to follow, but am continuing to research on different foods.

Thank you for continuing to read bloggers.

Progress

We are getting there with the little man, Monday we had a follow up with our Doctor in Franklin for the ear issue.

Note- Bentlee has been on whole foods for the past 2 weeks now. No rice, No dairy (exception to formula-however diluted)

When we got there, she had said she could already see some improvement, and sure enough after getting an exam on his ear, and nose he is clean from infections and clean from being sick. Hallelujah!!

For me it was the greatest news, like winning the lottery or something major like that. After what I have been through with him, doctors after doctors, antibiotics, and crankiness, etc.

No parent wants their child sick, it is the worst to see your child sick and especially at such a young age.

As far as foods go, we have been taste testing with different vegetables and fruits.

Here is a typical menu:

Breakfast: Avocado blended with a banana and some oatmeal- (dairy free, wheat free, gluten free) Sometimes he will eat some scrambled eggs (good to get eggs from farmers market or whole foods store). Blended in also - a tip of a teaspoon of his vitamins (probiotics for kids)

Lunch: a vegetable- and some fruit and half of a cup of goats milk mixed with one scoop formula (eventually weening him off of the formula and strictly on the goats milk)

Dinner: typically 2 vegetables with some fruits for dessert

For vegetables we have taken as far as steaming broccoli steaming squash and zucchini, he also loves sweet potatoes with cinnamon. He will eat carrots with a touch of cinnamon as well. Most all vegetables i add a little butter (REAL-only ever REAL butter) If you are interested in butter i have read that grass fed butter is the best for us, especially babies, however pricey.

Fruits, he will eat any fruit you give him, but honestly what kid wouldn't. He loves apples, we boil apples, mash them up, and blend with some cinnamon and it is actually so good, I eat some of his food, it is really good. (LOL)

I do believe whatever method you choose for your child when they reach the age to eat (food) start out with vegetables, if some start out with fruit they tend not to like the greens which is essential to them. Sometimes my son won't eat a fruit, he loves his veggies that is for sure.

Even though it has been only 2 weeks of whole foods, i can tell that he likes it more than the Gerber foods. He actually eats more of it. It has been a somewhat difficult transition but all in all, as long as whole foods is what he sticks with from here on out, it will get better and better.

I do a lot of research on this stuff. I believe i have done more research with my son that i ever did as a scholar. Him being healthy and secure is all that matters in my life, I could spend all day at the Whole Foods market, not only for him but for myself. It is good really good stuff and it sure does do the body wonders.

Above i mentioned Goats milk, if you ever get a chance check out the reasons on goats milk and the great things it has to offer,

T.S.E. review 1

The Shadow Effect review 1

I have been getting into this book and i have been writing down things that come to mind, that make me think.

* The conflict between who we are and who we want to be is at the core of the human struggle. If we know courage, it is because we have also experienced fear; if we can recognize honesty, it's because we have dealt with deceit.

Part 1  is written by Deepak Chopra
Part 2 " Debbie Ford
Part 3 " Marianne Williamson

Juice, Water, New sources

Last night, Bentlee tried his first Sippy-cup full of Organic carrot juice.
I was a bit worried he would either:
A) throw it up
B) spit it out on me
C) make a funny face

All of the above - never happened- he LOVED it. he took down about half of the juice in a minute.
One thing the boy does get enough of is his water. Lots of water. He is so funny when he eats he takes two bites, and he will not take another bite unless he gets water. He's a smart one. I am so pleased and grateful he loves water so much. I am not going to be the mom to give him sweet juice to make him happy or be quiet. He will drink water, and healthy juice, carrot juice mixed with some cucumbers to let the taste down. As far as apple juice (unless made freshly from an apple-naturally) he will be drinking nothing but natural veggies and fruits from God's green earth.

Going through this process with him, at first i was worried, but after just two weeks i can assure you i will never back down from my belief to continue feeding and giving him every vitamin, and green and fresh veggie and fruit he needs. A child needs nourishment and that is what he will get.

Last night for dinner he had sweet potatoes (of course organic and from the produce market) with a touch of cinnamon, he tore it up. he then had some pealed strawberries, and also ate them wonderfully.

We go to the doctor in Franklin this coming up Monday for a follow up to see how his ears are doing and how he is doing all in all. I am so anxious. As a mom, with your child you know everything (literally everything) about them inside and out. I can tell by his actions, smiles, sleeping patterns just within the past couple weeks he has got to be feeling better. He has always been a very happy exciting baby, but even today i have never seen him so happy and full of life.

New Foods

Over the weekend, we tested out some new foods for the little man.

Since it's that time of the year for awesome fruits and veggies we went and got lots of fruits:
cantaloupe
strawberries
blueberries
watermelon
bananas
avocados
carrots
greens
and more greens

We tested out each and every one of these with Bentlee's taste buds. The winner was Cantaloupe. He chowed down, and i mean chowed down. He probably ate a whole one through the weekend. i blended some to make juice, and then he ate some as bites. He also loved the watermelon, and we made that into juice as well, and he drink a lot.

As for the avocados, he loved as well.
Bananas we have been doing for a while and he absolutely loves those.
We mixed and blended strawberries and blueberries together for a yummy  DESSERT :)

As far as the greens and carrots, he was eating this in typical baby Gerber food, however not as good and nutritious so he seems to like the REAL stuff much better.

This is breakfast for him, Avocado, bananas, and eggs.

The only thing now is trying to ween him off formula due to the "dairy milk-base products"

I won't do soy because it is not good for baby boys, and not really good for babies.
I researched and talked to a girlfriend who does all this for her little girl and there are other options, goats milk, or at organic sections in a grocery or a whole foods market, they have a yogurt that is not milk based, and has no soy, but has coconut milk- MUCH BETTER.

Just us

The love for him is unexplainable. The moments with him are everlasting. The smile he gives is heart warming. The cry he cries is unselfish. The love he gives me is unconditional.

Blogger greatness

If you are keeping up with my posts, I have recently been changing my son's nutrition chart. My good friend, and my son's godmother and I have been researching and reviewing all the reasons, the ups and downs, etc on this "whole foods" process. And i must say i have never been more on board..

Here is a must read article on a blog we found that gave me all the more reason to continue this.

Nutrition

Today, i had a reason to think about better nutrition for my son. After a doctor visit we had, it seemed clear to me that there was no reason it could hurt anything to test out a food processor and get real with some fruits and veggies. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and found one, rather cheap, and after went to Kroger and got some fruits to test it out.
It was the easiest thing to figure out, and without a doubt the best investment i have ever made. I processed bananas, apples, pears, and apples. I left some plain and mixed some up. Bentlee loved it. I have never seen him eat better.
Pictures to come and more info about finding new foods. I am so anxious to mix up some more foods.
All in all i am hoping this helps with allergies and better nutrition.

Free

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laugher is life's sweetest creation.
